July 18th - The Baby Comes Home With A Condom!

Work Experience last week, and now, Sex Education today! Did you know they give condoms away these days?

I didn't, either. Didn't know where to look when the baby told us she'd got a condom!

She then proceeeded to make it worse by sitting in one of the armchairs, undoing the packet, unrolling it, pulling it, streching it, SMELLING IT(!), and, finally, blowing it up and letting it rip around the front room. She played with it in front of all of us!!

I would have died before I'd done something like this in front of my parents!

The baby then informed us that the school was giving out chocolate and strawberry flavour condoms as well. Oh My God!

Isn't it just amazing how kids just have the natural knack of making you feel old and totally out of it?

Thats another chapter completed in my growing oldness then!

New web page is done, complete with Paypal button, and is now on line. I'm ready to start trading with the business to business site tomorrow, and from here on, I'm concentrating now on getting the retail site up and running properly as well - marketing it from the weekend onwards.

And with the bills that have fell through my letterbox today, I'm going to need every penny, Urgently.

Tuesday 17th July - Haven't Blogged For Days!

So Busy! Preparations being done for both restarting the business, hopefully tomorrow, and the baby's birthday this Sunday.

My baby daughter is 15 this year. So Grown up. So Fast. That means there's one of those big family gatherings on Sunday before the birthday girl has her party somewhere in Kings Lynn (Can't remember where - the wifes arranged it)

So, today's been really busy, Had to go out to Fakenham this morning (after getting up late again), got back and cut the front grass before the storm at Fakenham when I left Tesco's, reached us here at home.

After cutting the grass, I've decorated the dining room ceiling - well, put the first coat of paint on anyway. The wifes cousin from Austrailia gets here 12th August and is staying with us for 6 weeks as a once in a lifetime type of thing, and I'm fighting to get the house ready in time.

This is the cousin my wife found from doing her family tree, believe it or not, and the whole story started about 4 generations ago when an orphaned boy was "Transported" out there from an orphanage here somewhere, which I understand was quite common then.

Other than that, I've been re-doing my business to business web site over the last day or two and I'm hoping to upload it, and restart trading, late tomorrow night or Thursday morning.
Back on nights Thursday & Friday, then it's my weekend off, which, on the new rota, I get every three weeks. One weekend days; the next nights; then, the favourite one - Off!

Talking about work, I've still had no response from my S.A.D. (Shot At Dawn) manager, but, totally out of the blue, I've had a call today from my old supervisor. He didn't have much time to talk, owing to constant interuptions, but's he's ringing me back tomorrow. Maybe my old job's come back up?

Professionally speaking, this is called syncronicity (Spelling) - I've put the Vibes out for another job, and the universe is responding. You are what you think about most of the time. Yet again, its working isn't it? Despite all the science in the world, natural laws seem to rule somehow.

If you're reading this Simon - thanks for your replies, but there's no actual blog posts. After the weekend's post, I'm just a little concerned - are you OK?

Saturday 14th July - Rotagate Scandal Sorted

Or, at least, the plans have been made, agreement from all our team confirmed, and we're now just waiting for our Company to agree to the reviewed shift pattern that affects us all.

I'm now doing 4 days a month, as oppose to the original three, and this complies with what my management confirm as to being the bare minimum for all staff.

So, in theory, everyone is happier. I'm still looking for another job though, because I refuse to be treated like something the S.A.D (Shot At dawn) manager has trodden in and got stuck on his shoe.

Like I said before, all it would have taken was a simple phone call, but the SAD manager decided to take absolute control of the situation, and in doing so, has lost all control in the process. I've still had no reply - he just doesn't have the guts to face me.

Spineless.

But agreement, and compromise have been reached so it buys me time. Which is important.
I'm working Saturday & Sunday night, off Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday so I'll be seriously sorting my life out then.

Something Different.................
I had this email come through yesterday which gives food for thought, so I thought I'd share it with you, especially in light of recent activities by certain people. I thought it freaky - what do you say?

The Secret Behind Number 11.
New York has 11 Letters
Afganistan has 11 letters
Ramsin Yuseb has 11 Letters (this is the terrorist who threatened to destroy the twin towers in 1993)
George W Bush has 11 letters.

Coincidence perhaps? Its gets better.....

New York is the 11th State
The first plane crashing into the Twin Towers was flight number 11.
Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11
Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers. (6 + 5 =11)
The tragedy was on 9th September, or 9/11 as it is now known. (9 + 1 + 1 =11)
And consider this..........

The total number of victims inside all hijacked planes was 254. (2+5+4 = 11)
September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year
The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. (3 +1+1+2+4=11)
The Madrid tragedy happened 911 days after the Twin Towers Incident.

And here's where it gets really creepy.............

The most recognised symbol of the USA, after the stars and stripes, is the Eagle. The following verse comes from the Koran, the Islamic Holy Book:

"For it is written that a son of Arabia would waken a fearsome eagle. The wrath of the eagle would be felt through the lands of Allah while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced: for the wrath of the eagle cleansed the lands of Allah and there was peace."

That verse is number 9.11 of the Koran.

And Finally........
Using your word processor, type the number of the first plane to hit one of the Twin Towers. This was flight Q33 NY.
Hightlight Q33 NY and change the font size to 48.
Change the actual font to Wingdings.

What do you see now??

Wednesday July 11th - Collecting Bills again

Like Simon in his blog, I'm also at the time of the month when I'm collecting bills. Why is it that we spend our life working really hard, just to pay bills, and, normally, end up with no money for ourselves?

Today, I've had the "honour" of talking to both my secured loan lenders and PowerGen. Our electric bill has just gone up from £40.00 monthly straight to £78.00, and the secured loan, having missed some payments, is now £192.29 monthly.

Bearing in mind the mortgage interest rate has again gone up last month, so I'm expecting to pay something like an extra £30.00 monthly from 10th August.

Yet again, I'm having to redo my accounts. All this means is that I get more and more in debt as every month passes, with no hope of a break, or reprieve for the forseeeable future.
So, I've got to keep on keeping on, hoping for a break somewhere down the line. Hopefully, sooner, rather than later.

S.A.D Manager Update

At the time of writing, I've still had no reply. I and a colleague are busy on redesigning the roster system at work and trying to balnce the companys new requirements against what we want and need to do. I've rescheduled myself for 4 day shifts, the minimum the comapny say I should work. We're hoping to get final confirmation from the last man tomorrow so we'll be able to close this case down. Hopefully, forever, but I think, realistically, the company will continue to re-open the case every 5 weeks or so, the same as it's been doing for the last two months.

John's Wife Update

I feel really sorry for John, my colleague at work. He and his wife went to the QE for a CAT scan which showed up a shadow on his wifes lung in addition to the growth on her side. She's now been referred to the Lung Cancer Specialist. I'm not sure when they got the results, it was either earlier today or yesterday.

Having gone through all this myself last month, and finding myself clear, I really really feel for John and his wife. The worst possible results were confirmed in his wifes case, whereas I escaped by the skin of my teeth.

I am so, so, lucky even though I have so many major, financial, problems everywhere else.
I reallly am appreciating life, despite still experiencing daily difficulties, seemingly everywhere, often severe. I don't know how long this appreciative stage will stay with me, but I am pleased to say the relief stage is now over. After a tense month, I've had severe headaches, palpitations, Skin Disorders, rashes, stomach upsets, and the one sleepless night all within the two weeks after being cleared for cancer. My body, and brain, are recovering now the stress of the whole situation has finally left me.

New Blog

On a lighter note, I've just started the new blog, Common Sense For Brtain, and I'm pleased to report that the article I published on Helium is stil number 1 in its section!

Warning recieved - Don't mess with this guy

I got the warning last night from my line manager as I went into work telling me that I shouldn't really be messing with the S.A.D sales manager because he can be a nasty piece of work. In other words, lie down and take everything he throws at me.

Er, no, not really.

I was questioned because, rightly enough, my line manager wants/needs to know what I'm doing, and that I can accommodate the "new" shift pattern. I really feel for this man as hes a really decent man and has, by mishap, got caught up in the middle of this sad situation. I can only confirm with him that we are trying to sort things out our end. That's all.

But threats don't work with me, and they never have done. All it would have taken was a simple phone call or two and it would have been sorted. Sorted decently, ethically, and properly.
Not with secret, clandestein meetings in closed offices at the top of the site, where no -one would see them. (Didn't work - because I still found out about the meeting.)

Any man can only have true power by looking after his fellow humans , because, as Einstein said, We are all born to serve others, what other possible meaning of life could there be?

On the grounds that, in the words of the song, I believe that, for every person who goes astray, someone will come, to show the way, I'd like to be the one who shows this manager the error of his ways, and the proper way to manage.

Master of Business Adminsitration teaches the best managers that feedback is the one essential tool every manager should have in his toolbox.

Anyway, that's about it. Maybe I could give this guy a bit of man to man advice sometime. Or, maybe I'll stay professional, and recommend him for management training and therapy.
Got to be able to talk to him first.

And I've still had no replies to phone calls, emails or letters.

Still stinks doesn't it?

Maybe the man needs to find inner peace with himself? I could recommend the advice of one prominent American Psychological show host: you cannot find inner peace until you have finished all that you have started.

Worked for me. I got up one day and looked around the house for all those projects I'd started and hadn't finished. And before leaving the house one morning, I finishedoff a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Champagne, a bottle of Bailey's Irish Cream, a bottle of Kahlua, a packet of fish fingers, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos and a box of chocolates.

Well, I felt good anyway. Don't think that that's what the good doctor meant somehow.

Monday 9th July - Back to Basics

Still no reply from my S.A.D. Manager directly, buit all staff have been issued with a general letter. And guess what? The management have backtracked and letting the old rota run until August. So much sh*t - for nothing.

So, all that hassle for nothing. Ok, we've had official instructions now that I have to work a minimum of four (week) days now - I was working three, but other than that, nothings changed. Letter came through this morning.

But, I've still had no reply to my emails, letters or phone calls. What kind of man hides behind the Royal Mail? I still don't know what's going to happen now though, I guess we'll all find out by the weekend. As far as I'm concerned, my resignation is still live. And my manager still deserves to be Shot At Dawn. Does it feel like a victory? No - at least, not until I've spoken, face to face, with the egotistical manager who created so problems in the first place.

Time will tell.

The Weekend

The weekend's flown by again. I still haven't got done what I wanted to, so the business relauch, once again, is postponed to next Tuesday. The kitchens decorated, and tided up (a day's work in itself) so, apart from the ceilings, everythings done.

I did, eventually pick up my prescription for the anti depressants (having run out a week ago) so I'm back on the treatment.

Back on nights tonight after I and my colleague took it upon ourselves to fully man the shifts as the manager couldn't be bothered to even cover the shortages HE created. That means I've now got another set of 7 nights to do, ending at 7am, next Monday. Roll on then!

Apologies for the rain in the meantime everyone as it always rains when I'm on nights!

6th July - Something Different - I'm Number 1!

As I 'm relaunching the business, basically starting from scratch again, I'm trying to create a steady monthly income for myself by working once, and getting paid for ever for it. This is called residual income.

So, a couple of days ago, I wrote and put an article on a site called Helium, the details of which I got through IMM's Google Adsense Programme.

Have you seen those ads floating around the blogs - headed with "Ads By Google"? Well, this is where I checked out Helium from - and IMM have got/will be paid by Google because I joined Helium from their link. Easy money.

Anyway, Helium are a writers board, where articles you write climb up a reader chart, gradually, from bottom to the top position, according to how many people read it. The articles you write - which can be on any subject - must be your own work, but other than that, there's no conditions, except that they must first be reviewed by "The Management" to make sure they are acceptable.

So, when your article gets to number one, you get paid according to how many people view it, AND there's a chance of picking up some freelance writing work for someone, for hard cash.

submitted it two days ago, got it accepted, and over the last couple of hours, it's reached number 1 in it's section!!

I'm not expecting to make hundreds from it, or even instant money, but hey, every little helps (heard that before, somewhere!). And if I pick up a freelance writing job through it (I love writing) isn't that a bonus?

And the fact that the article stays on the site, forever, means I could get new jobs from it next month, next year - even 5 years down the line. Work once - get paid for it forever. That's the objective. So the half hour or so I spent writing it out will, hopefully, stand me in good stead for years to come.

Regular readers will recognise part of the article, because I put it on here last month. But this is my full article, not the shortened version I wrote here. It's about political correctness - a subject I really feel strongly about.

And I'm thinking of starting a new blog here as well, specifically about this subject. I'm going to be calling it Common Sense For Britain, and I'll start it sometime over the weekend, using the article I wrote for Helium. The new blog will concentrate only on the stupidness of the PC Brigade and the European/British Government Government.

Sorry if you find this subject boring, this blog will stay as it is, so you won't have to read the new one if you're not keen on politics (Simon!)

Friday 5th July - Silly, SAD, Management Update

As predicted, no acknowledgement, no response & no phone calls received in response to my request for the SAD manager to reconvene the cancelled (But still held in secret without telling the staff it concerns) meeting.

What an absolute waste of a management position! No only is this man a sh*t stirrer, fully prepared to upset mens personal and working lives without consultation, hes also the biggest coward I've ever had the gross misfortune to come across. Ever.

If it wasn't for me and one of my colleagues, the shift would definately be short on Monday. This scrap of humanity hasn't even bothered to cover the shortages on Monday, Tuesdfay, and Wednesday that HE created through his obnoxious, egotisical actions.

So I and my colleague have made sure the manning requirements are correct, because, and only because, the ultimate shortfall will affect both of us.

We've done it off our own backs, as a strictly one off occasion because this, this, this, sad, sorry excuse of a man (can't think of anything else - legal anyway!) cannot be arsed to face upto what he's done.

And that's pathetic - I'd like to have a secret (cancelled) meeting with him behind closed doors.
Stop it! Must stay professional here, I'd hate to sink to his sewer levels. I have pride after all! This man has now exactly 6 days to reconvene this meeting.

Otherwise, I'm going to do it for him. With the company's managing director.

And, if that means going over someones head, so be it. There's nothing worse than a brand new (4 months old) manager trying to make a name for himself. Especially if he's using me to do it.

Keep you informed!!
Paul

Thursday 5th July - Chinese Whispers at t'mill & Shot At Dawn

You'll never believe what I found out last night. That meeting that was cancelled, you remember? Well, the management DID have the meeting in the office block at the other end of the site - in secret. They just didn't want us there.

Like I said yesterday, I've never dealt with such an abysmal management in my life. And now, I'm dealing with cowards as well. A cancelled meeting, still being held in secret, behind closed doors, in a building where we'd never see them come in, or go out.

Doesn't it just stink?

Especially giving the fact that they stirred the sh*t, messed around with five mens lives, then couldn't find the backbone to face upto their decisions.

Don't get me wrong, we're not out to cause trouble, the meeting wouldn't have been violent, or agressive, or anything like that - we just wanted to say no, not acceptable, and in any case, WHY?

One of my colleagues rang me up last night, saying that it had been decided to revert back to the old roster, "for the time being"

Still not good enough. By Far. I'm still angry with this and I am going to leave. I've already applied for two jobs last night on line, and there's going to be furious application activity from me until I get another job.

And I've still had no reply to letters and emails emails, not even a solitary phone call. They still need another man starting Monday for three days as I'm off, running the Home Taxi Service, taking the Teenage One to work experience.

Even though I've offered to cover nights on those 3 days so I can swop swifts with a colleague, who is more than happy to do so.

I'll see what happens today, if anything, and update the blog tonight.

Thanks for the replies yesterday guys - and Kim, by sheer coincidence, the business, which has been stagnant now for 4 months, since losing my American Server, is being relaunced Monday with the greatest amount of urgency I can muster. I've been working on this, behind the scenes as it were, for about 6 weeks or so, really going for it after I was clear from the hospital results.
I'm decorating today and sorting out the server tomorrow and Sunday ready for Monday. I've completed my grass cutting duties yesterday aftenoon, so when I'm finished tonight, the weekends mine. All mine.

I'm now calling my managers the SADs. Cowardice has never been tolerated by the armed forces, and those guilty of such offences (this cowardice, thanks to todays better understanding, is known as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, so the vast majority of solidiers killed were innocent) were marched up hills at dawn and shot. Shot At Dawn. Thats what my managers deserve.

This whole thing stinks to high Heaven.

Thursday 5th July - Stupid ideas by stupid management

Well, would you believe it? My company has just cancelled the Very Important Meeting today without notice (see yesterdays blog) and have actually brought out a new roster - without notice - and this starts next MONDAY.

I'm even more angry now.Five days notice of a complete change in working practices, affecting all my colleagues, as well as myself, a major change in both work and life.

No notice of new rosters, meetings, cancellations, no consultations, and they have the cheek to bring this in by the back door by virtue of a single, photocopied sheet of paper delivered through the post.

What's it mean? Days off gone, missing or completely changed - bearing in mind the original roster was done until the coming New Year. Everyone's personal plans completely wiped out overnight by a single sheet of photocopied paper.

And the company doesn't even have the decency to answer my letters or emails. Are our lives really that meaningless to everyone? What gives ANY company the right to mess and interfere with a complete crew of five mens personal lives?

This new roster was issued and then the meeting was cancelled. Net result? Two totally different rosters in circulation, both unconfirmed, and now NO ONE knows what they're working/should be working starting from 7am, next Monday.

I have NEVER, in all my 43 years, dealt with such a pathetic example of man management. I dread to think what this man had to do to get his management job.

I've told them I'm not going into work Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, because of The Teenage Ones taxi requirements for her work experience. I asked for the meeting to be reconvened as a matter of urgency within the next few days.

If I've heard nothing by the 25th of this month (giving them a chance to get their act sorted out - in fairness) I'm pulling rank on this silly example of a manager and requesting a formal meeting with the company's director at Head Office.

I'll keep you all informed......, in the meantime, any suggestions as to what to do here on a post card please! This covers us against legal repercussions (LOL)

Wednesday 4th July - Trouble gets worse at t'mill

What a shambles. No other word for it. Checked the post after getting up late again, found no letter. Rang my company up, couldn't speak to who I needed to, someone else checked the managers Diary. Meeting tomorrow morning 8 -10 am.

Plans were made for me to stay on after my nightshift tonight, and this involved the wife borrowing her mothers car to take The Teenage One to work experience tomorrow morning, as I wouldn't be back home until 11.00 - 11.30am.

The secretary said she would confirm details and get back to me, to make absolutely sure. No phone call. Rang the office back, eventually spoke to the same lady who said that the meeting had been cancelled.

No notice of any meeting. No notice of rota changes. And now, no notice of the meeting been cancelled. No reason, other than it's "Got to be rescheduled".

Wasn't it a good job I rang up the other day, purely by chance, coincidentally, about something else? Otherwise we still wouldn't know anything about it now.

I and all my colleagues are all peed off, severely. My company had better get their act in order, and soon.

Otherwise, they'll have no staff left in Kings Lynn at the end of this month.

And, on reflection, lets just say it's a good job that the manager who is (ir)responsible for this shambles was on his way home in the car when I rang the office.

Because if I'd spoken to him, I wouldn't have a job to go to tonight.

So angry. I hate indiscipline and disorder. Especially as I can't talk or see the Manager in charge of the whole mess.

Monday 2nd July - The Baby Starts Work Experience

Talk about feeling old! My birthday yesterday, and now my baby starts work experience from school today. Working as a classroom assistant in a (not so) local school.

Where have the last 15 years gone? Anyone know? And why have they gone so fast? My little baby left home this morning dressed as a young woman for work experience instead of her school uniform.

I realise I've got to get my brain to catch up with life, but it's so hard when your youngest is growing up too fast in front of you.

So, I'm taking positive action here. As a feature in my first business magazine, I've reprinted a section from an Housekeeping magazine from 1955, and I'm going to give my (grown up) baby daughter a copy to serve her in good stead for the future. I think every young lady needs the guide I've repinted here. There, I've accepted her growing up a little more now, don't you think?

The Good Wife’s Guide
This is an actual article from the Housekeeping Monthly magazine, dated 13th May, 1955.
How things have changed today....

Have Dinner Ready: Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready, on time for his return. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospect of a good meal (especially his favourite dish) is part of the warm welcome needed.

Prepare Yourself: Take 15 minutes rest so you’ll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work weary people.

Be a little gay and a little more interesting for him. His boring day may need a break and one of your duties is to provide it.

Clear away the clutter: Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives.Gather up schoolbooks , toys, paper etc and then tidy tables.

Light a fire: over the cooler months of the year you should prepare and light a fire for him to unwind by. Your husband will feel he has reached an haven of rest and order, and will give you a lift too. After all, catering for his comfort will provide you with immense personal satisfaction.

Prepare the Children: Take a few minutes to wash the children’s hands and faces (if they are small), comb their hair and, if necessary, change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.

Minimise all noise at the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of the washer, dryer, or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet.Be happy to see him

Greet him with a warm smile and show sincerity in your desire to please him.

Listen to him: You may have a dozen important things to tell him, but the more important things are your husbands.

Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a chair or lie down in a bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink waiting for him.

Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in low, soothing and pleasant voice.

Don’t ask him questions or question his judgment or integrity. Remember, he is the master of the house and as such will always exercise his will with fairness and truthfulness. You have no right to question him.

A good wife always knows her place.

I'll let you know what happens.................

So, now I know who they are, and where they are. Based in Georgia, USA. A google search for Joe Geurin didn't bring anything up, so I had to probe a little deeper. Two options now, both turned up trumps. There is an excellent site called ripoffreport.com (http://www.ripoffreport.com/) and I found a lot of stuff from there, including a link to another forum which said:

There is no registered domain netrd.net. Or was it a typo? I have your IP address also, just fyi - IP Address: 68.223.33.202Name: Your conscienceEmail Address: cowards@netrd.netURL: http://www.netrn.net

So, now, I know his address and postcode.America doesn't have data laws like we do here, so I checked out various Government departments for Georgia, ending up here:

http://www.state.ga.us/and did a company search and this is their report:

So, there you go. I've found out the person behind the scam, found out that they make money by charging people who respond to their sad emails an extortinate fee for a private courier service, then disappear. Now all I've got to do, is report them to someone, first guess is the actual Gorgia Government department I found, if not the FBI.

Scammers, don't mess with me!

Anyone else need help, just let me know, OK? I'll do what I can - it only takes 10-15 minutes - and the sooner these people are stopped, the better. The picture on this blog is the USA Government Departments Logo that I'm dealing with.

Have a good week everyone

The Prescription Chase - Part 2

Fast action. Adrenaline. Pressure. High Speed. Almost as if I was doing my old job again. This was nothing important, just a prescription collection. I mean, what could go wrong?
Hows about everything?

Okay, everything went to plan, at first. Left home at 5pm, giving me 15 minutes to divert off my normal route, go to the doctors, pick up the prescription, then drive back to the starting point and straight to work, getting there for about ten to, maybe five to 6.

Turned off the A148 to go to Massingham, where the surgery is. About half to three quarters of a mile away from the surgery, the road was closed off. Diverted right.

A furious drive along the diversion, bringing me out at Hillington. Turn off left, heading to Grimston. A road I'd never been on before. Followed this diversion for about 9 miles, eventually arriving at the surgery at 5.35pm.

Went in to get the prescription, which I'd ordered three days ago (repeat prescription). Joined the back of a queue of three people. Eventually got to the counter.

The prescription wasn't ready.

Left the doctors without the prescription at 5.40pm. rejoined the diversionary route. Another 9 miles back to Hillington, using every bit of advanced driving, roadcraft, and the Volvo's turbo.
Back on my normal route from Hillington, joined the now increasing stream of rush hour traffic. Pensioners doing 38-44 mph in a 60 zone.

Got held up by some poor excuse of a human being in a grey, four wheel drive, armoured personnel carrier who decided at this point in time, his ultimate, important mission was to pick up some home grown strawberries from Knights Hill Farm Shop, holding up 6 or 7 cars behind him, mine included, for five minutes until some kind soul let him turn right into the farm shop car park.

Drove past an accident just past the farm shop. 3 car collision, on the other side of the road, fortunately.

Got to work at 4 minutes past six, extremely peed off and stressed out. Wonderful start to an early nightshift, wasn't it?

And, as the saying goes, it could only happen to me. Twice. I've got to go through this again on Monday when the prescription, alledgely (spelling) will be ready.

Just like it was supposed to have this time.

Oh, and did I say that the prescription's for the anti depressants as well?

Friday 29th June - Dark Angel Of Cancer Calls In My World Again

I thought it was all over and done with, now, but the Angel of Cancer has again appeared in my world. This time it's my friend John at work, whose wife had the confirmation yesterday afternoon.

This Dark Angel keeps hovering around my world, refusing to go away until he collects someone to go with Him.

It seems as if I've escaped so He's picked someone else. So, over the last 7 - 8 weeks, that's one death, one escape, and now, another case.

Isn't life fragile? Obviously, I hope John's wife pulls through OK, but at the moment, we're just outside the first 24 hours of confirmation, so someone else's world is now starting to come to a sudden standstill.

I have learned over the last few weeks to appreciate life, and everyday, it seems as if Life itself is re-inforcing that statement.

Moving on. I'm starting work early tonight so I've got to leave at 5 and pick my prescription up on the way. So tonights going to be a really long one again. I've overslept today as well, having worked all day yesterday from 8am to 4pm decorating, then going to work for a 12 hour night shift.

Two pieces of good news though. Firstly, I missed the rain this morning, just getting in at 3.20am as it started. and I've started using the Nicotine inhaler as well, so we're now on the way in that respect as well.

I did do my revised budget last night as well, taking into account no cigarettes etc, so I'll start working on the details over the weekend.

Okay, got to go

Thursday 28th June - Getting back to business again

These last two days off have been spent fulfilling one of the commands handed to me by the wife, otherwise known as the Wise One. I've literally just finished decorating the dining room.
Well, what bit I could afford to do, anyway. Still got the ceiling to do, so hopefully I'll be able to divert some money from next months wages to get some really heavy paper to cover up all the bumps!

And now, having allowed myself a brief period of celebration (heard that somewhere before) its back to business.

So, I'm redoing my household budget tonight and trying to balance the books again. I must admit, my mind hasn't been on work lately as much as it perhaps should have been, so now I'm re-focusing on the Finance (or, rather, lack of) and seeing if I can start pulling the situation around.

I've got the nicotine inhaler from Boots (half Price) so hopefully this will help me crack the smoking lark, and that starts, in earnest, at Midnight tonight.

Still having the debt letters come through the door every day almost. Good to see some things haven't changed over the last few weeks, isn't it? (!)

One thing has changed though lately - and this isn't for the better either. My foods starting to get stuck on the way down again - obviously the strictures starting sweling again. I'm out of prescription tabletsas well at the moment, so I'm relying on over the counter supplies until I can get to pick the prescription up.

Still No Time!!

And talking of time, I'm starting a set of 6 nights again at 7pm tonight. That means I'm working on my birthday again this year then as well (1st July).

I owe, I owe, its off to work I go...............

Tuesday 26th - The Day After The Rules Were Broken

"... no man is useless while he has a friend." - Robert Louis Stevenson

I've read through all the comments from the blog I wrote last night after getting home. Thanks for all your comments guys.

Listen, the last thing I dreamt of doing was bringing conflict into the blog. Hazel Eyes, what you said about the ringleader is true. I am the ring leader here.

You see, I broke the rules. The whole point of a blog is that we can make friends without meeting people. Without going out, doing every thing from the comfort of home on our computers.

Obviously I was disappointed that no one could make it. I know everyone's busy, that's why I said it would just be an hour or so. But, I have been knocked over by the support I got from my friends here with my recent cancer scare. And I just wanted to say thanks in person.
No big deal guys. I broke the rules, and it didn't work out. Doesn't matter. so, apart from the disappointment, there's no hurt feelings. Really.

What DOES matter though, is that I did spend valuable time with my son, and that I'm going to live for a few more years. Please, lets not fall out over this and keep our friendship live.

Incidentally, I did know about Simon - he was covering a shift for a colleague who's just had a bereavement -something like that can never be planned for - thank God- but I found out too late about this though because the PM script still isn't working properly here and the alert didn't tell me I had a message waiting - again - so it wasn't until I got a text from him after getting to the pub that I knew what was going off.

There's always the future isn't there?

Best thing about last night - for me - and the worse for my son - besides only having me for company for an hour or two that is - was listening to me telling him I miss the quality time we used to spend together.

In the past, we've run businesses together, worked together, got up at 5am every Sunday morning for months in all weathers whilst we worked the Sunday markets in the West Midlands, repaired cars together, (nearly crushed him under a Granada Estate when he was 13 or 14), I taught him how to drive on private wasteland when he was only 15. He just informed me that I'm getting old. And boring!

See? There's good in everything isn't there? Talking of good, I hope you passed your test Lee - and well done to Jally for his community action in helping with the floods.

I can't even say the time was wasted yesterday - because I spent it with my son - although if I'd have known, we'd have gone to a local pub instead and saved on petrol.

But honestly guys, it really doesn't matter. Disappointment is a short lived emotion.
And, honestly, I do look forward to meeting everyone in the near future sometime.

Sorry for breaking the rules!!
Paul

Meeting Adjourned!

I and my son went to the lounge at the Woolpack for just before seven, and we stayed there until 7.40pm - on our own!

Great plans as they say! Started out by the fact that we found ourselves in the bar, and had to give the bar man the drinks back whilst we walked around the corner to the proper door into the lounge.

As no one had appeared by 7.40 as I say, we decided to call it quits and went back home. Still had a valuable bonding session with my son though, but we did, eventually, run out of things to talk about.

I'm sorry no one made it. I guess we'll just have to stay figments of every bodys imagination for the time being!

BUT this is the first time, in absolute years, that I've purposefully made plans to socialise. See, I can still do it, can't I?

Maybe next time will be better - for everyone. Simon, perhaps you'll pass my regards onto the bar man for me - I did ask for you when we went in. I didn't get your PM because it didn't show up in the messages bit here again.

Knightrider - A Shadowy Flight Into The Dangerous World Of A Man Who Does Not Exist

Well, all the arrangements are made, and I'm meeting Simon (Eddie2Socks) and we're walking up to the Famous Woolpack, and I'm leaving home at 6pm, so we should all be in the pub for 7pm.

Hopefully the weather will be a little kinder to us tonight, especially considering I got soaked through again last night. Absolutely drenched. Lets hope we have good luck on our side eh?

Really looking forward to meeting my new friends, and our first round will be dedicated to New Friends, Absent New Friends, Scan Results, and Giving Up Smoking. Welcome to my dangerous world!

And as I've said in earlier blogs, I promise I won't keep you too long, I know we're all busy. In case I forget tonight, I'd just like to say thanks for your time and incredible support I've had from each of you over the last, and most traumatic, 5 weeks of my life.

I just want you all to know that 've really appreciated all your support. An unbearable situation became tolerable knowing I had people routing for me. Thankyou.

Paul

ps - My son doesn't know about the blog - yet- I haven't told my family, but I haven't NOT told them either. I'll tell him on the way there tonight, so we'll all be free to talk properly!

Sunday 24th June - Looking forward to tomorrow

Last night tonight, finishing at 7am tomorrow, and then I'm off for three nights. Looking forward to our get together at the Woolpack tomorrow night! Simon, I've replied to your PM, and sent you an email as well, just to make sure.

If I don't hear anything from Simon, I'll still be going down and finding somewhere to park. I don't know the Woolpack at all, but I'm assuming it's a pub with a lounge and a bar?

If that's the case, I'll start out in the lounge, so we'll be able to sit down. If that's not the normal thing to do, we can always move into the bar when we've all met up perhaps? If there is no lounge, then you'll find me in the bar somewhere.

Look forward to meeting you all. Its a shame that not everyone of us lives in Kings Lynn, there's a few more of us bloggers I'd like to meet as well, like Big Boy, who always makes me laugh, and of course, the reknown Pasty Muncher. Maybe one day. Soon.

Apart from getting wet on every one of my nightshifts this time around, there's nothing to report really, as the saying goes. Still grateful it's my last nightshift, still so tired.

On the smoking/non smoking front, I've put packing it up back until Tuesday, my second day off, IF I don't crack it before hand. Maybe I'll do better when I'm off. I've picked up the Quit Today pack from Tescos, thought I could make use of some of the coupons (and triple points) on some of the anti smoking stuff.

My biggest problem is the first drag of the first cigarette of the day - so I'm going to get an inhaler. This won't be as strong as the smoking, but at least I'll feel something going down my throat and, because it's nicotine as well, I should feel the same afterwards.

Then take it from there.

See you tomorrow,
Paul
