D Day Tribute

Although it cannot ever be right to celebrate war, I feel disappointed that the D Day Anniversary Landings have been consigned to silence and with exception to the Paul O Grady Show and Radio 4 Yesterday, they haven't even been mentioned.

On June 6, 1944, a date known ever since as D-Day, a mighty armada crossed a narrow strip of sea from England to Normandy, France, and cracked the Nazi grip on western Europe.
The landings on 5 beaches namely Omaha, Utah, Sword, Gold and Juno resulted in 9,000 British and Allies deaths.

Isn't it bad that such an important, historical event should be largely forgotten today?

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Paul
